Deadly Shooting inside Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet in Brockton

A surveillance video released by authorities depicts the bold shooting that resulted in the death of a man inside a Brockton restaurant on Friday night.

The video, released by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office late Saturday afternoon, captures the fatal shooting at Hibachi Sushi Supreme Buffet on 718 Crescent St. The victim, 22-year-old Joe Araujo of Brockton, was seated at a booth inside the restaurant with a woman when he was shot in close proximity.

The video shows a gunman, carrying an empty takeout container and wearing a face mask and hooded jacket, walking through an aisle inside the restaurant, stopping briefly at a table, and then pulling out a gun from the jacket before firing it. The victim appears to put his hand up as the gunman fires a bullet.

The surveillance video also captures several children in the vicinity, with one child returning to an adjacent table just seconds before the shooting, and another child seated in the booth directly behind the victim being escorted out by a family member moments after the gunfire. The faces of potential witnesses and minors have been blurred and edited in the video as per the DA’s office.

According to the DA’s office, the victim appears to have been the target, and this was not a random act of violence.
